11th Jan: Ali Baba Panto a roaring success!
A huge thank you to everyone who came along to see Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves — what a fantastic run!
We had brilliant performances on stage, amazing support behind the scenes, and great crowds bringing loads of energy to every show.
From the laughs to the boos (the proper pantomime kind!) it was a real joy, and we’re so glad you enjoyed it.
Photos from the show will be published in due course — keep an eye on our website and social media for updates.

The Brief History Of Touchwood
Founded in May 1995 by David Bailey and John Wardle as Keaton & Powers, Touchwood's journey began at the Devonport Playhouse with their debut musical revue, Musical Memories of the Movies. Backed by former ABC Cinema manager Clive Jones, the group’s early years featured a string of successful musical revues and full-scale productions including Musical Memories from the Rubble, The Wizard of Oz, and Annie.
By 1997, the company formalised with Clive as President and David as Chairman. The name evolved over time — from Touchwood Productions to Touchwood Productions Musical Company, and finally, in 2012, the now-familiar Touchwood Theatre Company was born.
Over the years, Touchwood became a mainstay of Plymouth’s amateur theatre scene, producing beloved pantomimes, musicals, revues, and plays. Highlights include Cinderella (1997, 2006), Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (2002, 2011, 2017), Oliver! (2002), and the company’s first full-length play, ’Allo ’Allo! in 2012. From the sold-out success of Oliver! in 2009 to the wide variety of themed revues and family-friendly shows, Touchwood has offered something for everyone.
In 2022, Touchwood suffered the great loss of its founder and guiding light, David Bailey — a true Plymouth theatre legend whose commitment, warmth, and passion shaped everything the company stands for. David's legacy lives on not just in the memories of the many shows he helped create, but in the spirit of inclusion and community he championed. Following his passing, David Hunter stepped in as Chairman, helping to lead Touchwood into its next chapter with the same core belief at heart:
“Everyone deserves a chance on the stage — we are all stars in this company.”
Touchwood remains a vibrant, welcoming company where people of all ages and backgrounds can grow, perform, and shine. With over 60 productions to date and more still to come, the company proudly carries forward David Bailey’s legacy — keeping the spotlight on talent, community, and the joy of live performance in Plymouth.
